Nutrition In Relation To Ballet


Why so? Eating the right foods can help children ballet dancers to keep their bodies in form. As they spend their free time in ballet classes, they need the energy to exert physical activity which can lead to their optimum performance. As fit, health and full of self-esteem as they are, they would grow up to face the increasing demands of their craft. They still will have the physique required for ballet and dance. For teenage and adult ballet dancers, health is the utmost importance. They have to take care of it, or else they can kiss their ballet goodbye. The energy they need to execute dance steps will come from their nutrition, from the food they eat. Now, if they do not observe proper diet, how can they perform their best?Importance of Proper DietBallet dancers need the most out of adequate nutrition and caloric intake to perform well just as their sports athlete counterparts. Consuming too few calories in an attempt to lose weight and prolonged under-eating can be harmful for dancers. This can put them at risk for muscle loss, impaired immunity, thyroid disorder, and other hormonal disorders. Like sportspeople, dancers need to establish a healthy diet that corresponds appropriately with the physical requirements of ballet. But what could comprise a ballet dancer’s ballet?Caloric IntakeDancers need to consume enough food to meet the energy requirements of dance. During heavy training, dancers need 20 to 25 calories per pound of body weight. Food ChoicesA ballet dancer’ diet should compose healthy amounts of complex carbohydrates (whole grains, fruits and vegetables), lean protein and the heart-friendly unsaturated fat (nuts and seeds, walnuts, flaxseed, fish, soybean oil). Dancers should also consume 8 to 10 bread servings and at least 5 servings of vegetables every day. They should also go for low-fat sources like skim milk, yogurt and fortified soy milk (good for the bones). Dancers should keep away from protein-heavy diet as it can lead to sugar cravings. Dancers should always have carbohydrates-rich foods on their plate. Carbohydrates supply us energy. It provides fuel for the central nervous system and the muscular system. Take note that without carbohydrates, the muscles must be broken down for fuel, which is not good for dancers. During heavy training and rehearsals, dancers should increase their amount of carbohydrates. Healthy Food IntakeNever skip your meals. If you feel hungry during practice, take a break and eat healthy snacks. The brain and nervous system need a constant supply of energy from blood sugar which can only come from food. Eating some carbohydrate snacks before, during and after dancing and every two hours can help to increase glucose levels. The body restores its glycogen during the two hours following exercise, so it is important to consume carbohydrates immediately after strenuous dancing. Make sure you eat to stay energized for rehearsals.  Fluid IntakeDehydration can impair the dancer’s learning and execution of complicated choreographic combinations, so dancers will need to consume 8 ounces of fluid every 15 minutes. Drink during class and rehearsals to replace all of the carbohydrates you lost while sweating. Always bring a water bottle or flask or sports drink to every ballet activity. Taking care of the BodyBallet dancers also need to do amount of physical activity aside from dancing to help build their muscles and develop the physique for ballet and flexible splits. They need to watch their weight and food intake, have enough sleeps and rest, and do not take smoke or abuse drugs. Taking care of your body can help prolong your career in dancing and ballet.

Although diet and exercise are essential in staying healthy and
productive, being positive and choosing to be optimistic about the
future are equally as important. Maintain a positive attitude can
crossover from your emotional state into your physical health. Actually,
health is a broad term that includes a state of physical, mental and
also social well-being and not merely the absence of disease, as defined
by the World Health Organization, the leading health care monitoring
institution in the world. Here are some basic tips on staying healthy
and positive.As
the old adage says ‘you are what you eat.’ The diet is probably the
most important factor in a healthy lifestyle. The foods that you consume
on a daily basis defines the energy your body produces. If there is a
correlation to your levels of energy they can first be found in the
foods you eat. Unhealthy dietary choices that include high amounts of
processed sugar, fatty meals rich in cholesterol and caffeine are a
well-defined road towards developing heart disease, diabetes, obesity
and high blood pressure. Having these issues draws your emotional state
into a place of negativity which affects overall health in a negative
way. If
you want to stay healthy, shift your attention away from butter, sweet
bakery products, eggs and fatty meat. Instead, eat more ocean fish,
whole-grain products, fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds. These contain
less fat and sugar, but are rich in high-quality protein, fiber,
antioxidants and vitamins. Whole foods offer greater amounts of
nutrients than processed foods. These foods can also help you maintain
good levels of vitamins and minerals which helps the normal function of
your brain and body which in turn helps your overall mental and physical
fighting your unhealthy habits like smoking, alcohol and drinking lots
of coffee. There is no need to emphasize the importance of quitting
smoking, because the term lung cancer says it all. Oxygen in the most
vital nutrient that your body can receive. If your body cannot get
proper levels of oxygen you can lose the integrity of vital organs.
 Even moderate alcohol consumption is associated with lower
productivity, memory loss and an increased risk for liver and pancreas
diseases. Drinking excessive amounts of coffee increases your intake of
caffeine, which is a stimulant that increases the blood pressure and
frequently causes anxiety and restlessness.Start
developing healthy habits like exercising, making friends and finding
an entertaining hobby that will make you enthusiastic about life. Making
friends a habit by including them in your life can be one the best
cures for emotional distress. The communication bonds that are build
between friends acts as a natural stimulant which is healthy and
productive.  and The benefits of exercise include weight loss, a better
cardiovascular health, endurance and higher productivity at work.
Getting involved in the social life of your community is important
because it increases self-confidence and develops a sense of self-worth.

Now, what if I told you that because they went to bed hungry their babies are now prone to have a chronic disease as an adult and, not only that, but their grandchildren as well. This unfortunate fact is a huge problem.

Thousands of diet centers, “how to lose weight” infomercials that try
to promote their products and want to sell you false ideas and false
products to make a quick buck in detriment of your health, your well
being…and your pocket.That is why I have decided to write more
often about this problem, to kind of controvert just a little bit at
least the harm that many of you are exposed to when watching TV or
reading some mediocre article about health when you navigate the
Internet.First of all let me tell you something extremely important: there is no miracle fix to lose weight. That is it. Period.There is no magical pill that can make you lose the weight fast and in a healthy way.There is no special diet that can make you lose weight fast and in a healthy way.There
is no special machine that can make you lose weight fast without actual
physical effort from you. Like this one -lots of laughs- for “body slimming”Once
you are honest enough to admit that you do have a problem with food,
that you like to over indulge yourself by overeating unhealthy foods
and cannot control it, then you decide you want to make a serious
change in your life. But YOU have to want it. YOU have to desire to
become healthy, not thin, not fast thinness, that won’t work.
Everything in life that is worthwhile takes effort, courage and time to
achieve it. So, unless you actually have a physical problem, like hypothyroidism
for example that impedes you from losing weight even though when eating
healthy and exercising correctly, then nothing should stop you from
achieving your goal:losing weigh the healthy way and learning how to keep it off.Having
said that, I will give you few advices this week about how to lose
weight. Few advices well followed are worth way more than thousand of
false tips. However, I will continue to write in the future more tips
and ideas about how to eat healthy. So keep posted and feel free to ask

Calculate how many calories you have to eat to maintain your present
weight. Reduce your daily calorie intake by 500 off the total you got.
Calculate your calories every week after you weight yourself.2.
Exercise at least 50 minutes 5 times a week. But the exercise has to be
cardiovascular maintaining your heart beat between 80 to 85 % for at
least 20 minutes.3. Avoid greasy food and fast food. Remember that
we can eat everything BUT in moderation. Specially if you exercise you
need to eat some carbohydrates for energy. But don’t over do it -eating
excessive amount of carbs- because they have tons of calories.4. Be
positive. Make yourself feel good. Try to be positive and encourage
yourself every day. Picture yourself how you really want to look
physically. Picture yourself wearing those tight pants you haven’t worn
in years, that sexy t-shirt that shows your shoulders. Picture your
face without big cheeks and without that flabby double chin that has
embarrassed you for so long. Picture yourself smiling to your friends,
family, clients, co-workers with a thin face and bright smile.5. If
you drink alcohol beverages in abundance then you need to stop
completely if you are serious about losing weight and being healthy. If
you don’t have a problem controlling your alcohol intake then you can
have one or two drinks a week, preferably with your meals. If you are
going to have a beer choose the light variety since it has less
calories than the regular one. Vodka has way less calories than Brandy.
Red wine and white wine are also good choices. But do not have more
